BBC Inside Out West This programme was made at the 2006 race and was broadcast in January 2007. In it you see BBC weatherman experience his first Sodbury Slog. This video is kindly reproduced here courtesy of BBC.
The Start After a cornet player plays the Last Post and a two minute silence is observed, the race leaves Chipping Sodbury School and heads towards the town centre. This is a small section of road the race uses and you keep your trainers clean as well!
The Lost Shoe All runners are strongly advised to make sure their trainer are tied on pretty tight, or they may join the dozens of others in the numerous trainer graveyards on the course. God bless their “soles”.
The Lake Well you survived the hill and still have fairly clean trainers; that is all about to change. You pay a fortune for a mud bath at a health farm, but here it's all part of the entry fee “good value eh?”
The River A very popular spot for spectators, who will cheer you on (especially if you get wet!). Be warned, they don’t like it if you don’t get WET. It’s a good place to wash your trainers off - although nobody said the water was clean!
